Cyber bullying
Students attended an assembly on April 7, 2009 to learn about cyber bullying and other technology related dangers on the internet. The speaker was Jeff Scholz from the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit . He talked about how kids on the internet can become both perpetrators and victims. For children and teens between the ages of 9-17, the use of instant messaging, cell phone texting, and social networking sites have become the more common ways of bullying. It has become apparent that we all need to be more aware of what our children are doing and who they are communicating with. We need to give them the tools they need to keep them from becoming a victim and teach them how to deal with this ever changing explosion of technology.
