All Clubs and Activities
Extracurriculars are helpful because they boost students’ educational experiences and social, emotional, and communication skills.
Art Club
Bradt Art Club is designed for the imaginative minds of students in grades 1 and 2. Beginning in Trimester 2, this club offers a vibrant canvas for young artists to explore their creativity. Through a medley of colorful themed projects, it fosters not just artistic skills, but also social and emotional growth. The projects created last from 2 to 4 weeks.
Through the use of “community building” strategies, students will learn the value of teamwork, kindness and self-expression. Sessions are limited to twenty friends at a time. From January to June, join us and watch your child’s confidence blossom alongside their masterpieces!
Elementary Music Program
The music program at Bradt and Pinewood Schools includes general music instruction for 40 minutes each week. In addition to this, older students may also participate in one or more performing groups. Beginning in grade three, students may begin a string instrument and become members of “The Fresh Fiddlers,” a string orchestra for first-year players. In 4th-grade and beyond, all students are offered the chance to participate in choir, band and/or orchestra.
Small group instrumental lessons are offered once a week during the regular school day on a rotating schedule to prevent students from missing the same instructional time period each week. Students are expected to practice their instruments at home in order to progress. All student performing groups (orchestra, band and choir) hold their rehearsals after school with late buses provided. Membership in band is a reward for students who are working hard and practicing their instruments at home.
The elementary orchestra, band and choir performs at the following public occasions each year: the winter and spring concert, the annual school budget vote, Pinewood’s Flag Day celebration and the June Strawberry Festival. Students also perform for their peers at two student assemblies during the year. A parent orientation to Mohonasen’s elementary instrumental program is held each year, early in September, to familiarize parents with the program and provide information on choosing an instrument. Most students need to rent and/or purchase their own instrument.
STEM Program
The Mohonasen STEM Program offers after-school and evening enrichment opportunities for students in grades K-8. Courses and programs are engaging and hands-on, focusing on preparing students at a young age for possible careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. Imagine being faced with a problem that requires an original solution. It can be frightening. Now imagine not being afraid to solve that problem – that is what OM members learn. This skill and self-confidence will carry over to all areas of their lives. OM brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve our unique open-ended problems. OM also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more. This international program is designed to help students at all learning levels grow as individual learners, grow as team members, and to reach their full potential.
