Counseling: Career and Technical Education Pathways


Family and Consumer Sciences

  • Total course required for completion: 3.5 credits
  • Technical Exam: NOCTI- Early Childhood Education and Care-Basic

Core Courses are defined as those required to be considered for the CTE Technical Endorsement (3.0 credits). The Career and Financial Management I requirement may be taken as a stand-alone course or embedded within the core course specified above.  Students may choose an additional 1 credit from the Supplemental Courses to fulfill the total requirement for 3.5 credits.

Core Courses are defined as those courses that all students are required to take to be considered for technical endorsement (4 credits). The remaining 1 credit required for the 5-credit sequence can be achieved by taking supplemental courses. Students may choose any courses from the supplemental list to fulfill this requirement. Both Career and Financial Management I and II are taken as stand-alone courses within this pathway.

Core Courses are defined as those courses that all students are required to take to be considered for a technical endorsement (4.5 credits).  An additional 1.5 credits are required (for a total of 5-credits) for students seeking an Advanced Regents Diploma in lieu of taking years 2 and 3 of the Foreign Language graduation requirement.  Students may choose any courses from the supplemental list to fulfill this requirement. Career and Financial Management I is a stand-alone course and Career and Financial Management II is embedded in the Engineering Design and Development course.
