Library/Media Center: Pinewood Intermediate

Online Media Library

Policies

Students may check out up to three items at one time and have up to five items out total. Items include books, playaways, and periodicals. This limit does not include items checked out for school projects, work with teachers, or other special circumstances. Circulating restrictions include limiting the number of playaways and special collections (ex. Newbery challenge books). Resources check out for a two week loan period and may be renewed for two additional loan periods. Items need to be renewed by physically bringing them to our library.

Students need to have returned all overdue items or have them renewed before they are permitted to get new items. This teaches students responsibility and holds them accountable for district purchased materials. Two attempts/reminders will be made to collect the library material during library classes (equaling one months’ time). After the two attempts with the student, communication will be sent directly to guardians notifying them of the overdue material but the student will be able to resume borrowing.

Unless the material is returned, students who have lost two or more books will be on a restricted borrowing policy. These students will be allowed to check out one book at a time that we will request stays in school. As students demonstrate responsibility in returning over time, we will gradually increase borrowing limits back to regular limits. Students who lose a Playaway will be restricted from borrowing this type of item for the remainder of the school year.
